Meet Ana Larios. Ana graduated from Windthorst HS in 1997 and has worked for WISD for 19 year as a teacher’s aide. Ana and her husband, Mauricio, have been married for 19 years and live in Scotland, Texas. Ana enjoys working at school and in her spare time she enjoys drawing and working in her garden. We are lucky to have Ana as part of our team here at Windthorst ISD.

Chris and Darla Tackett moved to Wichita Falls in July of 1997. Chris started teaching and coaching for Windthorst, while Darla coached and taught in Electra. They moved to Windthorst in October of 1998. Darla joined the staff at Windthorst in 1999. They have 4 children. Brady graduated WHS in 2017, graduated from Cisco college in 2019, where he played baseball and is currently attending EMT/Paramedic training in Lubbock Texas. Natalie is a senior, Tara is a freshman, and Heidi is in 5th grade. They each have 20+ years in education and enjoy being a part of such a wonderful community and school system.
Hello my name is Rumalda Ramirez and I have worked at Windthorst ISD since 2001. I have 3 children who have all graduated from Windthorst HS, Benjamin (2005), Cese (2006) and Cindy (2008). I live in Scotland, Texas. I enjoy working with the students as a teacher’s aide. I have one grandson, Aiden, who is 5 yrs old. Meet Ann Bugarin Cabrera. Ann works in the maintenance department and keeps the elementary building running and clean. Ann and her husband, Al, live in Antelope, TX. Hello, I am Karen Berend and this school year starts my 7th year at WISD. I graduated from Archer City in 1990 and attended Vernon College. I am in the elementary RTI math department. I have been married to Rodney Berend (WHS ’86) for 28 years and we have 3 daughters: Mikayla , and twins Blakeley and Blair. Mikayla (WHS ’12) and husband Riley Schreiber(WHS ’11) are the parents to our first grandson, Milo Jax. Blakeley (WHS ’16) is attending MSU pursuing an Exercise Physiology degree and will graduate May 2020. Blair (WHS ‘16) is also attending MSU pursuing a Marketing degree and will graduate May 2020. Blair and her fiancé, Trace, will be married May 2020. When I am not at school, you can find me spending time with my family, helping my husband daily at our dairy and I still work at my hair salon that I have owned since 1994. I truly enjoy being a part of WISD.

Hello, my name is Pat Leopold. I am starting my 39th year in education, the last 6 years have been with Windthorst ISD. I graduated from Bowie High School in 1977 and MSU in 1981. I have been married to Rob for 34 years. We have two daughters Erika and Monika and they are both teachers. I’m excited to be a part of the Windthorst ISD family.
Meet Dennis Koetter. Dennis has worked for WISD for 21 years as the Maintenance and Transportation Director. Dennis graduated from WHS in 1973. Prior to working at Windthorst ISD, he worked for Berend Bros for 25 yrs. Dennis and his wife, Linda, live in Archer City. We are lucky to have Dennis here at Windthorst ISD as he keeps our school and buses running.
Hi, my name is Stacey Steinberger and this is my second year at Windthorst ISD. I graduated from here in 1989 and earned a Marketing Degree at Midwestern State University in 1993. I am employed in the school cafeteria. I have been married to Chad Steinberger (WHS ’90) for 25 years and we have four boys.
Garrett (WHS ’14) graduated from Texas A&M in 2018 and resides in College Station. He is engaged to be married to Jordyn Senkirik and they plan to wed in 2020. I am so excited to finally be getting a daughter! Gage (WHS ’17) received his certification in Farm & Ranch Management from VRJC and lives in Windthorst. Gavin is a Senior and Grayson is a Freshman here at WISD.

Dec 28th. 3 kids come to Windthorst. Angelina is in 10th grade , Miguel is in 6th grade, and Neveda is in 4th grade. Pablo is 1 yrs old. In my free time Love to spend time with my family. My name is Melanie Beisch and I currently teach Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology and Forensics. I also serve as the UIL coordinator and the NHS sponsor. This is my 10th year at Windthorst and my 30th year of teaching. I previously taught 20 years at Zundy Junior High. I graduated from MSU with my bachelor’s and master’s degree. Rusty and I have been married for 30 years and have 2 children Emily (’12) works for Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Alec (’16) works for WISD in the technology department. In my spare time I like to read, support the Trojans and Trojanettes, and travel.
Hello I am Leann Berend Hoff and I married Tom Hoff in November of 81after we both graduated from WIndthorst High School in 1980! We have 3 successful children that graduated from WIndthorst High school as well , Aaron Hoff, Miranda Hoff Rice and Emily Hoff Grotelueschen and have all went on to further their education and graduated from Texas A&M and Midwestern State University and their spouses as well have graduated from A&M!
We have one granddaughter, Ellie Grotelueschen and four grandsons, Wyatt Grotelueschen, Matthew Bexar Rice, Colton Grotelueschen and Baby Grotelueschen due the end of December. We love traveling and doing things with our grand kids! Did not know life with grandkids would be so GREAT ♥️ I work in the Windthorst ISD school cafeteria. Hello, I am Lonnie Hise, Superintendent of Windthorst ISD. I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for giving me that opportunity in 2017. I would like to let you know a little about myself. I am a graduate of Haskell High School (1983). After graduation, I attended McMurry College for one year and graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo Texas with a Degree in Physical Education and a minor in History. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Mid-Management from Midwestern State University in 2005 and my Superintendent’s certificate from Texas A&M Texarkana in 2015. I have been blessed to be married to my wife Sheila for the past 32 years. We have three children: Zachary is married to Lakin, and lives in West Texas with our 3 year old granddaughter (Harper) and grandson (Tucker). Kelsey is married to Daniel Williams, and lives in Seymour with our youngest granddaughter (Maylie). Emily works as a dental assistant in Wichita Falls and will be married to Jarrod Richey in January. I began my career in Whitesboro Texas as a teacher/coach from 1989-1990. The next nine years, I was a teacher/coach in Holliday Texas (1990-1999) and then went to City View in Wichita Falls as the Head Football Coach/Athletic Director (1999-2006). The last two years I was the Assistant Principal at the High School. In 2006 we were fortunate to move to Windthorst where I took over as Principal of Windthorst High School until 2017. I have been the superintendent since that time.

My wife Haley is a teacher and the tennis coach at Archer City. Together we have two sons, Gage who will be 3 this November, and Gannon who was born this past August. I am a 2009 graduate of Holliday High School and a 2013 graduate of Midwestern State University. I will be teaching computers this year after having taught History the past 6 years. Hello! Meet Scotty and Kim Lofland. He’s been a high school coach and has been teaching 4th/5th grades in Windthorst since 2006, and she’s been teaching Pre-K and first grade since 2009. He graduated high school in Holliday, and she graduated from Rider in Wichita Falls. They both graduated from MSU. They’ve been married for 22 years and have 2 boys, Tim and Ben. Tim graduated from Windthorst in 2018, and Ben will be a 2021 graduate. In their spare time, he likes to drag her birdwatching, and she likes to drag him into house renovations.

Hey, my name is Sharla Anderson and this is my 7th year teaching at Windthorst ISD. I graduated from Windthorst ISD in 2002 and from Midwestern State University in 2007. I am the Family and Consumer Science Teacher, FCCLA adviser, and One Act Play director. I have three children that all attend school here as well. Saige is 13 (8th grade) and keeps us busy with Volleyball, Band, and Cheer, Daxton is 12 (6th grade) and loves playing Top of Texas football, and Dossen is 6 (Kindergarten) and enjoys eating cheeseburgers and being drug around to all his siblings’ events. I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Mike, watching, supporting, and cheering for my babies, and socializing with family and friends any chance I get. Hello! My name is Judy Hale (formerly Judy Cannedy) and I am the Band Director for Windthorst ISD. I currently teach grades 5-12 band and 6th grade technology. I taught at Midwestern State University for 6 years prior to starting my public education career, now in my 22nd year! This is my second stretch at Windthorst. I began my career here in 1998 and taught until 2005. After leaving Windthorst I served as the head director for Wichita Falls High School, Throckmorton, Bremond, Granger and then Mart before I found my way back “home” again! I graduated from Hirschi High School in 1983, Midwestern State University in 1990, and completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2015 at the University of Texas at Tyler. My husband Mark and I are newlyweds and we have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Paige is married to Anthony and lives in Wichita Falls where she teaches and is working on completing her Master’s Degree in Biology. Jordan is married to Sarah and lives in New Jersey and has one daughter, Hannah. He and his wife are both Paramedics. Savannah is married to Brad and has four children: Lane, Landyn, Audrey and Peyton. She is a teacher’s aide here at Windthorst. Will is a deputy with the Young County Sheriff’s Department. He has one son, Sterling. When not working I love to read, study and learn more about God and my faith, I love spending time with my family camping and fishing, and I also have a passion for cars and classic rock music (which go hand in hand on a sunny afternoon!).

This is my 13th year of teaching- 10 teaching 4th-5th Science at Windthorst and 3 at Bowie Junior High. During my free time I like to watch my kids play sports and be with the grandkids.

I received my Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Economics from Texas A&M University Commerce, and completed my agriculture teaching certification from Tarleton State University. Before becoming a teacher I worked on the crab boats in Alaska & was the dairy herdsman for Willie Hoff’s dairy. My wife Juhree and I have three kids who graduated from Windthorst ISD. Our oldest, Kayci is a innovation specialist for Burkburnett ISD, Kayla is respiratory therapist at Comanche County Hospital & Trevor is a wean calf specialist for Transova Genetics. Hello, my name is Susan Veitenheimer and I am the school nurse for the district. I am currently in my 32nd year at Windthorst ISD. I graduated high school in 1982 from Wichita Falls Old High. I attended the University of Tennessee for one year and then return to Wichita Falls to graduate from MSU with a degree in nursing. I have worked through the years at both General Hospital and United Regional (Bethania) in addition to working at Windthorst ISD. I also currently work part time as a nurse at Kell West Hospital on weekends and holidays. I married Gerald Veitenheimer in 1985 and have been a member of the Windthorst community ever since. We have 5 children all of whom graduated from Windthorst ISD; Whitney is currently working at Lone Star Milk Transport, Travis is married to Emily and is Orthopedic Resident at OU Medical, Spencer works at Montgomery Farms, Lucas graduated from MSU with a degree in Exercise Physiology and lives and works in Denton, Owen is at TSTC in Waco for aircraft mechanics and maintenance. We have 2 grandchildren, Addison and Caden, that we enjoy spending time with whenever we can. Windthorst ISD is a wonderful district with staff that truly care about each and every student. They are my extended family and I am blessed to be a part of this school and community for so many years.
Mary Beth Simpson
I’m a graduate from Midwestern State University. My degree is Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Grades 1-8). I am certified in Early Childhood and ESL. Most of you know me as the Pre-K teacher at Windthorst ISD. For years I have taught Pre-Kindergarten and dyslexia classes. This school year 2019-2020, I will be working only part-time as a dyslexia therapist. I received my dyslexia training in a two year program at the Scottish Rite Learning Center of West Texas in Lubbock, Texas in 2009. I am certified as an Academic Language Therapist, and a licensed Dyslexia Therapist. The curriculum I teach is “Take Flight”, which is a comprehensive intervention program for students with dyslexia.

I graduated from Windthorst High School in 1984, Midwestern State University in 1990, and completed my masters degree in education in 2008. I coached, taught, and became an administrator while working in the Wichita Falls Independent School District for 24 years. This will be my 6th year at Windthorst. Hi! I am a Windthorst native farm girl! I grew up on a dairy farm and learned the work ethic there. I am a 1983 graduate of Windthorst High School and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education at MSU in 1988. My husband, Robert and I have been married 33 years. We have three children- Faryn Westmoreland, Carmen Stallcup and Dylan Stallcup. We have seven grandkids and one on the way. This is my 30th year in education. I have taught 29 years in the classroom and 1 year at North Texas Rehab in the Early Childhood Program. My experience is 4 years teaching first grade in Wichita Falls, 1 year as an ESL teacher/ substitute teacher and 24 more years teaching Jr. High Science at Windthorst. I am now enjoying 2nd generation students!!! I love my job of teaching 11- 14 year olds and when people ask … how do you do that? I say… well, the middle school kids are like mini- adults, yet they are still children at heart. Science is my passion. I love nature and teaching kids about how the world works. My philosophy is to have fun while learning all about our world. I like to incorporate hands-on learning and creativity along with critical thinking! When not at school or at a ballgame, I love to spend time with family, especially the grands. Hello, I am Lavern Lindemann. I am starting my 30th year at WISD. In 1990, I began work as a kindergarten aide, helped with the Big Blue Band for 11 years, as well as serving the students with reading interventions. My husband, Wayne, and I are WHS graduates (1973) as well as all three of our children. Melanie (1994) owns Wolf Insurance Agency, Karen (1998) is employed at Region 9 ESC with the Head Start Program, and Matt (2001) owns Windthorst Tire. We have 6 grandchildren that keep us busy with all their activities and events. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and relaxing at the lake. WISD is a great place to work, and my coworkers are my second family.

Howdy! My name is Mackenzie Haverland. This is my first year at Windthorst, and I’m very excited to meet my new students! I will be teaching English I and III, and will be a 10th grade sponsor and PALS sponsor, as well as a UIL academic coach. Aside from school, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. My husband, Kyle, and I both went to Texas A&M, and we love going to football games and being part of the 12th Man whenever we can. Hello! My name is Karley Buerger. My husband, Scottie, and I currently live in Archer City with our Golden Retriever Willow. I graduated from West Texas A&M University in 2014. After graduation, I taught at Hereford ISD for 3 years before returning to this area to teach at Burkburnett for the last two years. When I am not lesson planning, I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and traveling. I am beyond excited and thankful to be teaching first grade this year. I am starting my 12th year as a Teacher/coach. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008. I am coming from Electra HS where I served as the Spanish teach/asst football/Head baseball coach. I was previously at Everman High School in Fort Worth where I also taught Spanish and coached football and baseball. We have 2 kids. Hayden is 11 and going to 5th grade and Hanley is 7 and going to 2nd grade. We enjoy watching our kids play sports. Hayden plays football, basketball and baseball and Hanley plays basketball and softball. We are very excited to be a part of the Windthorst Trojans Family!
Taylor Baggett is a graduate from Midwestern State University. Upon graduating, Taylor moved abroad to teach 6th and 7th grade British English, then continued her career at Odessa High School in Odessa, Texas. Taylor has a dog named Winnie and several precious nieces and nephews. In her spare time, Taylor loves to spend time with family and friends, travel, read, and occasionally binge watch the newest Netflix show. Taylor is extremely ecstatic to work at such a welcoming school, and can’t wait to help her students meet their full potential. Go Trojans!

I am starting my 6th year in education and 2nd year in teaching. I am coming from Electra Elementary where I was a 4th grade teacher. My husband and I have 2 kids. Hayden is 11 and will be in 5th grade. Hanley is 7 and will be in 2nd grade. They both are very active in sports. We enjoy our lives as a coaching family and are excited to be a part of the Windthorst community.

Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Karen McCann and I am the 5th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher as well as the 4th grade Art teacher. This is my 6th year in the Intermediate Building and I have loved every minute of it. I bleed blue being a Windthorst native. I graduated from WHS in 1995 – Go Big Blue! All 4 of my kids attend or have attended WISD too. Emily – Senior 2017, Nathan is a Junior, Thomas is a Freshman, and Savannah is a 6th grader. I’ve been married to my husband David for 22 years and we have successfully converted him to a true Windthorstian as well! I started working for WISD as a substitute teacher around 15 years ago when I was a stay-at-home mom. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from about the age of 16 when my high school Geometry teacher said she thought I’d be a good teacher after watching me “teach” a lesson in class (btw, I stunk at math!) After the birth of my 4th child, my mom encouraged me to go back to college and finish my degree and so I did (if you know my mom, you know she won’t take no for an answer)! I graduated in 2011 from Midwestern State University, one of the most memorable days of my life. My first three years at WISD I enjoyed working with the junior high and high school doing remediation, ESL, and high school English until moving to 5th grade. I absolutely love my 4th and 5th graders! In my free time when I’m not watching my kids play sports, I love to read, spend time outdoors on my patio or in my flowerbeds and travel any chance I can. I consider myself truly blessed to live and work in the community where God put me.
I am married to Brad and have one son, Carter Crain. I graduated from Midwestern State University, as an Indian, in 2001. This school year starts my 18th year at Windthorst. I started as the “band aide” and then became the administrative assistant to the superintendent, before I came to Windthorst I was a teacher’s aide in Wichita Falls ISD while going to college. I enjoying yelling at pep rallies and chasing after Brad and Carter (WHS Senior 2013) and my favorite hobby is spending time with my family and friends. Hello !!! My name is Mary Blagg. Many of you already know me since Windthorst/Scotland is the place I have called home for 50 years. I graduated from WISD (‘87) and MSU (‘92). I spent the first 5 years of my teaching career in Wichita Falls and the remaining 22 in Windthorst. That being said, I am very excited to be in my 28th year of education and my 12th year in Kindergarten. The Kindergarteners that I have worked with over the past 11 years have taught me as much as I have taught them. My favorite lesson which I have shared with many of you is… to believe… to be a dreamer… Unicorns are real. My husband, David, and I have three sons. Austin (24) who works for us at Current Utility Services, LLC constructing power lines, Avery (22) who is the K-5 P.E. Teacher at Ben Milam Elementary in Wichita Falls, and Awtry (17) who is a senior this year at WISD. We enjoy watching every sport that our son plays, traveling, and spending time with our family and friends.

The 2019-20 school year marks my 22nd year in education! I graduated from Holliday High School and Midwestern State University. I spent a year coaching at Jacksboro and 3 years at Alvord ISD. I married Scott Belcher 23 years ago and God gave us Cy (junior) and Brock (5th grade) to love and raise. My favorite sport is whatever they are playing… I truly love watching them in all they do. JH Math Teacher
This is my 25th year in the district of Windthorst ISD. I graduated high school from Windthorst and college from Midwestern State University. I teach JH math to 7th and 8th graders. I have been married to Daniel for 29 years and have 5 children Colin, Chase, Brooke, Blaire and Conner. I am looking forward to our first grandchild in October!! In my spare time I love to work outside in the yard and try to keep in shape by jogging daily
2nd Grade Teacher
Hi! My name is Pam Wolf. I am starting my 17th year of teaching here at Windthorst Elementary. I teach 2nd Grade Math, Science, & Social Studies. I am a 1987 Graduate of WISD. After having 3 boys, I started college at Midwestern State University. I graduated in 2002 and had my 4th son that fall! I have been married for 31 years to Lloyd Wolf Jr. We have 4 wonderful sons and 3 sweet grandchildren! Waylon lives in Aledo and works for Matador Resources. He is married to Alyson and have our 2nd granddaughter, Lyla (9 months). Travis also lives in Aledo and works for Matador Resources. He is married to Rachel and have our oldest granddaughter, Scarlett (14 months). They are expecting our 4th grandchild in December! Clayton works for Tubing Testers. He is married to Sydney and have our 1st grandson, Quentin (5 months). Our youngest son, Kyle is 17 years old and is a Junior at Windthorst High School. He keeps us busy playing football and baseball. I love teaching at Windthorst ISD and I am glad that I have been able to influence lives in my hometown!

My name is Brittany Wolf. This is my 11th year of teaching and my 2nd year at Windthorst. Josh and I have two of the best little boys in the world. Luke is about to turn 3 and Beau is 4 months. I’m so thankful to be at Windthorst. Can’t wait for my kiddos to join me at school.

Hi – I’m Diane Herndon, Elementary Secretary and cheer sponsor! This is my 2nd year at WISD. I graduated from Windthorst High School and Midwestern State University. I have 4 kids- Brooke who is a sophomore at Collin College, Sydney who is a senior and Hunter who is a sophomore at WHS – and Brady who is in 5th grade at Windthorst Elementary. Most of my free time is devoted to taking my kids to practices, watching games and working concession stands (lol). I love my job and seeing all of my elementary kiddos!! I’m excited for this upcoming year!!
Elementary Special Ed Coordinator
Teaching is in my heart and soul. I am the daughter of two educators from Hickory Creek, Texas. In fact, three out of four of my parents’ children are all teachers. I graduated from Midwestern State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BSIS) degree. After graduation, I coached and taught P. E. for Lake Dallas I. S. D. (my alma mater) for a few years. I joined the Windthorst I. S. D. family in February 2003 and have taught kindergarten ever since. My husband, Shane, and I are always laughing and enjoying each other’s company. I love spending time with my family, traveling, and hiking. I am excited to instill a lifelong love of learning at
Windthorst I .S. D. on a daily basis.
