The Windthorst Elementary kids knocked the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge out of the park. All 273 students participated in the heart challenge during their PE class on March 2nd. They have spent the last 4 weeks learning to keep their heart healthy in all areas of the body and mind. In addition 153 rose to the challenge and raised $19,493.24 for the AHA. Our top fundraiser was Laiken C. who raised $2789.86, Jace H. was second raising $500.00 and Quinn W. was third raising $370.00. 146 Students raised $50.00 or more and qualified for the Color Blast Run that will be during the Track and Field Day on April 22. This amount also qualifies our school to receive $1300 dollars back for equipment for heart healthy activities.
The Elementary students would like to say a big thank you to all who donated and made our first year such a great success. The rest of the keychains and mystery prizes will be handed out on Monday after spring break (the package did not arrive today). The jump ropes, ball, and other bigger incentive prizes should be here in 4 weeks.
